Commander

So…. we are at a standstill with our building project. We have been for two months now.

The past several weeks have provided a lot of opportunity for us to be overwhelmed, frustrated, and discouraged. It has been difficult, and we’ve been tempted more than once to give in to defeat.

In the thick of it, I was praying and asking the Lord what Chris needed to know, because he is bearing the brunt of it all. I immediately saw, in my mind, Chris standing at his post, busy about the work before him. He was wearing his armor and holding his weapons. From his perspective, he could see the enemy, but what God wanted him to
know was that his Commander was in the tower up higher. The Commander had a better vantage point. He could see the enemy but also the angel armies. He already saw the victory coming.

I heard the Holy Spirit say, “While you’ve been about your Father’s business, your Father has been about yours.” The most important part of being a spiritual watchman is not watching the enemy but watching the Father, and I’ve found that when we slow down and wait with the Father, we get where we’re going faster. We get to the victory sooner. He is the Commander of angel armies, and He doesn’t miss a thing.

So, this is what we’re trying to do. Trying to focus on what He’s doing and not just asking Him to bless what we’re doing. Trying to be where He is. Doing what He’s doing.

Waiting with Him. Sitting with Him. It is the best place to be.
